ABOUT US
This vision of Forest Free Timber started back in 1979 in San Jose, California. The goal of owners Yvette Corwin and Chris Johnson is to reclaim trees that are currently destined for landfills or would otherwise be split for firewood. This work takes us throughout Northern California and Southern Oregon.

The forests are not an inexhaustible resource. We believe urban forestry is a vital component of any sustainable society and that wood is the most recyclable of all natural resources.

Building sustainable enterprises throughout the West Coast, working with govermental managers, individuals and organizations to make better use of our resources.

Everyone needs to understand the principals of protecting wilderness while developing the resources for maintaining our society.

A few decades ago, America was a vast wilderness surrounding a few islands of humans. Today the reverse is the norm.

At Woodfirst, we understand it is through community supported projects that the finances will be created to maintain the balance for wild lands and urban areas.

Walk lightly on the earth!

We can’t fence in wilderness any more then we can fence in society.

Civilization today is faced with balancing our relationship with the earth’s finite resources. Looking at this issue, generation to generation, how are we going to pass on a legacy of caring for the earth’s resources?

It is through teaching stewardship! That will determine the future of mankind in the presence of nature tomorrow.

What will resource and land stewardship programs be like generations from now?

How will they look back on our efforts?

We all know that actions speak louder then words. To maintain public lands without more tax money takes innovative ideas that are engaging within any community to work.

Woodfirst is here to help you to establish a more balanced regional economic self-sustaining program that will take the involvement of local businesses, community activists and government agencies working together.

Keep in mind that it is through active participation that dreams do come true.

The responsibilities which come with this dream are not small.

Caring for the environment on the local level is the way to work for this dream.

Woodfirst donates 5% of the job to any environmental nonprofit organization who uses or refers our service. (The 5% is paid after our expenses on the jobsite, cost of blades, gas for our saws, mill and truck, any lodging and all subcontracted labor.)

Call WOODFIRST when you have a project that we can help with.
